Juan Mata interview, Minuto 116, May, 2013
Minuto116: If I tell you Los del Rio and their hit, 'Macarena', what does it makes you think about?
Juan Mata: (laughs) It reminds me of a pathetic, stifling image...The whole team looking at me, Fernando Torres and Oriol (Romeu) recording me with the phone and I was in the middle of the dining room singing and dancing the choreography. It's a hazing that happens to you when you come to Chelsea. After the first game that the team plays away, during the dinner-when, by the way, I didn't eat anything because I already knew what was expecting me- every new player has to do it. They put a chair in the middle of the dining room and you have to climb on it to sing and dance. That day, other than me, Oriol- his was even worse- Lukaku and Meireless did it too. My debut was good because at least they knew it. Oriol sang one of El Canto del Loco and people didn't know if he was singing or speaking.
